Recipe Formulation

Pupper Supper is an all natural dog food that gets it’s macro and micro nutrients from real human grade foods, rather than using chemically processed ingredients like many others. The goal was to find a balance of proteins, vegetables, and grains that give the good puppers everything they need. We believe variation is the key here, with multiple protein sources used, a diverse selection of vegetables, and a small number of quality grains. The result is a low grain/carb formula, high in complete proteins, omega-3 and 6 fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, and everything else doggies thrive on.

While proteins make up the bulk of the ingredients, the goal was to provide essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients using vegetables instead of chemically extracted supplements like many companies do. This was a key process to keep the food “all natural”. Vegetables also provide a natural fiber content, with a small addition of natural rolled oats and whole grain brown rice to reach an optimal level of fiber.

PROTEINS:

Turkey - Highly digestible complete protein containing all 10 amino acids needed, a lean protein source but high in omega-6 fatty acids, high in taurine, phosphorus, B vitamins, selenium, zinc, choline, and potassium.

Beef Liver - Complete protein with omega-3 and 6 fatty acids. Also high in essential vitamins and minerals, especially iron, vitamin A, calcium, phosphorus, copper, and zinc.

Sardines - Complete protein high in omega-3 fatty acids. Also a great source of vitamins and minerals.

VEGETABLES:

Carrot, blueberry, peas, green beans, pumpkin, broccoli, yellow squash, zucchini, spinach, seaweed, turmeric. A blend to provide additional vitamins and minerals, phytonutrients, antioxidants, and fiber.

GRAINS/FIBER/CARBS:

While dogs do not process grains as efficiently as we do for energy, the fiber it provides is important in the digestive process to regulate the timeline and consistency of bowel movements. This plays a major role in the absorption of nutrients, while also providing nutrients, cellular energy, and encouraging good bacteria for a healthy gut microbiome.

Whole grain rolled oats - Good source of low glycemic index soluble fiber that also provides nutrients.

Whole grain brown rice - Good source of fiber; complex carbohydrates along with micronutrients and amino acids.

Sweet Potato - Although a vegetable, they better fall into the fiber category, providing soluble and insoluble fiber, as well as nutrients and antioxidants.
